What is the Melrose Youth Orchestra?
The Melrose Youth Orchestra provides elementary string students with their first ensemble experience, playing alongside mentor musicians from the Middle and High School orchestras. Students learn rehearsal and performance skills and play more challenging repertoire than is covered in their lessons.
When should my student join the MYO?
All students with at least one year of experience in Melrose’s lesson program are invited to join the MYO in the fall. Students who do not participate in Melrose’s lesson program may perform an audition to verify they have the skills needed to be successful in the ensemble. First year students in Melrose’s lesson program may sign up after the March concert on invitation by their teacher and/or upon request with an audition.
